Ardales is a traditional Andalusian village surrounded by mountains, reservoirs and rugged countryside. Its location makes it a natural starting point for exploring some of inland Málaga's most impressive landscapes while still offering the cafés, streets and everyday rhythm of a small Spanish village.
The Caminito del Rey follows a spectacular route through the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, with walkways attached to the steep walls of the gorge. The route has become one of Málaga province's best-known outdoor experiences and offers a completely different perspective on the surrounding mountains and Guadalhorce River.
The reservoirs near Ardales bring a surprising change of scenery to the dry Andalusian mountains. Spend time driving between viewpoints, enjoying the landscape or simply stopping near the water. Combined with the surrounding pine forests and rocky peaks, the area is ideal for a slower day outdoors.
Saskia and Frank deserve a perfect ten! We returned home fully recharged. They have created something truly special, and we enjoyed everything: from breakfast to chatting together in the evening. We made wonderful day trips, including the Caminito del Rey, a cycling tour in Málaga, the arena in Ronda and relaxed drives around the reservoirs. We will definitely return!
We stayed at Saskia and Frank’s B&B from 16 to 19 April. It is a beautiful, peaceful place with comfortable rooms, spacious showers, excellent beds and a generous breakfast. Fresh orange juice is made with fruit from their own orchard. The B&B is an ideal base for Málaga, the Caminito del Rey, Ronda and nearby Spanish villages with good restaurants. Do not stay for only one night: take time to explore the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Saskia and Frank, keep up the wonderful work!
We were the first group from Brabant to enjoy an enduro stay with Saskia and Frank. We had a fantastic time, with excellent care, delicious and varied meals, a barbecue and plenty of good company. Two local guides, a father and son, provided genuine enduro riding, from challenging routes to extreme climbs and descents. We wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful, rugged area to other enduro riders looking for an exciting challenge. Many thanks to Saskia and Frank from the entire group!
We had a wonderful overnight stay with a fantastic breakfast. The room was beautiful and the bed was extremely comfortable. We stayed here after walking the Caminito del Rey, and I cannot imagine a better place to relax afterwards. It is a genuinely lovely place and definitely worth booking!
If you are looking for a beautiful B&B with exceptionally hospitable hosts, this is the place to visit. We stayed from 1 to 7 May and had an unforgettable time. The surrounding area is magnificent for motorcycle rides, especially if you enjoy winding roads. Everything can be discussed, and Saskia even did my laundry. Spring and autumn are excellent for walking and exploring the surrounding countryside. Summer is ideal for enjoying the lakes, although outdoor activities are best planned for cooler parts of the day. Winter brings quieter roads and a different atmosphere to the mountains.
A car gives you the most freedom to explore Ardales, the reservoirs and the surrounding countryside from Carratraca. The village itself can easily be explored on foot. If you are visiting the Caminito del Rey, check your route and entrance arrangements beforehand.
